Let’s Get Organized

LGO Badge

Novel Clique, my writer’s group, determined 2012 the Year of the Agent. It went amazingly well, so we designated 2013 the Year of Social Media. We all plan to develop websites, continue to build our individual blogs, as well as the Novel Clique blog.

We’ll be busy, but maintaining a social media presence doesn’t have to be stressful. We sat down with our editorial calendar and brainstormed topics. Now, we have our group’s weekly blog posts planned for the year. It really took the stress out of figuring out what to write.

This morning alone, I changed topics three times. In an effort to find a balance between writing and the real world, we’re starting the Let’s Get Organized blog hop.

The rules are simple:

  1. Create a 4-6 week editorial calendar (here’s a cool template). If you post more than once a week, feel free to cut this time-frame in half. Unless, you’re up for the challenge.
  2. Publish the schedule to your blog. As with exercising, people tend to stick to goals when they’re held accountable.
  3. Tag three bloggers to join in the fun, then contact them to let them know about it.

The party starts February 21, 2013. In the meantime, mark your calendar, grab the badge for your blog to help spread the word and start brainstorming topics for your editorial calendar.

    I’m excited to do this!!

  2. You are so organized! Every week I say I’m going to sit down and write all 3 posts for the week at one time, and I NEVER do it! 🙂 That said, I have a post due tomorrow that I’d better go write 🙂

This sounds great! Could help to write more regularly.

  4. Great idea for those who struggle with this!

I already schedule my blog posts in advance. (It’s the only way I can get long stretches of time to write. LOL) I’ve got the rest of Jan. and all of Feb. done and set to launch, and about half of the ones in March planned. Doing my grammar series helps. By the time I do IWSG, random hops, and host cover reveals and tours, there aren’t that many days left to fill in. 😉

  5. This is such a good idea. What a great way to kick off the new year!

  6. Want to know something scary? Most of my post dates are half planned already due to guests and blogfests – into May. And of course April is planned with the A to Z Challenge.

    • I must admit, I’m both proud and envious. I look forward to reading more of your posts. I’m seriously considering the April A-Z challenge. I haven’t participated before, but it looks intriguing.

  7. I love that your writing group creates a themed goal for each year. What a great way to progress as writers and keep on track. Good luck with the new website!

  8. Nice! Goal oriented people rock my world (and boat, meaning I need to take lessons from them). May 2013 bring you all you hope for and more! 🙂

  10. Hmm… I’m not sure if I should go back to an editorial calendar for my blog. I had one for a while, when I was getting started. Now I’m pretty good at free-forming it and posting 6 days a week, but maybe I’d be able to get better content with a little planning and structure.
