I’m in Oklahoma with my writer’s group (Novel Clique) at the OWFI conference. We had workshops all day. The first three consisted of an agent’s panel, a magazine editor’s panel, and a book editor’s panel.
p.b. smith also had an interesting workshop on the importance of authors using social media to help build a fan base. Christina Katz spoke about author platforms and how to promote yourself before your published.
I also had the opportunity to pitch Journey to Eden to an agent who asked to see the manuscript. It’s not a contract, I still need to prove myself and earn the agent’s interest in my work, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
Overall, I’m impressed with the OWFI conference. It’s very well organized. They have a number of big name authors, editors, and agents who offer a variety of workshops. It’s great for networking. And of course, there’s the warm Oklahoma welcome extended to all attendees.
